I think you are making a big mistake going to paid only. The free podcast is how you got all the paid customers. I am an experienced podcast listener and 95% are free. I do not think I would ever pay for a podcast to begin with and the wright report is the only one I pay for and that is because I want to too succeed. I understand you do not want certain ads but to turndown ads because you the advertiser system to wants a bigger cut. 40-50% is better than your nothing plan. Please remember you need money to succeed and be able to your loyal listeners.

I go to The Wright Report first thing every morning. It's what I put on while driving my kids to school, or taking the dog out for a walk. TWR covers and analyzes topics that are not discussed anywhere else. I've listed to Bryan from the PDB days! I feel fortunate to have listened for so long at no cost. $6/month is nothing compared to the all that I learn. Free is nice, but I understand the need to support the podcast. Thanks Bryan for all that you do!!

That would be great. I will definitely patient for at least a week and a day, as I still will have the Apple download. By the way, I also enjoy listening to the ads and only wish you could work them into the day's podcast rather than repeat them verbatim. It's only the repeats that I skip through. The first time ads are entertaining. You are a very good pitch person. So I will miss those as well.

This has become my main news podcast. I'm a P1 listener. Unfortunately, I believe your decision to go to a paid subscriber-only model will severely limit the growth of your audience. And I think this is a shame because your analysis of current events needs to be proliferated as much as possible. So for that reason alone, I actually see this as disappointing news.

As I’ve shared with others, I’ll still be offering 1) Free Mondays; 2) Teaser episodes Tues - Fri; and 3) free trial runs on Substack for two / four weeks. Plus, people can use an RSS feed to still listen on Apple etc. I hope that combination will help address your very real concern.

This was my first thought as well. This information is important and I hope there is a path to sharing. I like the approach that Racket To Go uses. All episodes are available, but all fade out early and encourage you to subscribe for full content

Bryan how about a deep dive on Poland deciding to install 3 nuclear reactors in response to clean energy movement. The new SMR technology looks very promising and I think there is at least one US state planning an a project. In addition, here's a story from a project in Texas that may also be interesting to report on: https://www.power-eng.com/gas/proposed-entergy-texas-ccgt-plant-to-run-on-hydrogen-gas/

A great move Brian making the wright report a subsciber only podcast. My father and mother taught me at a very early age that if you wanted to see change occur you had to invest your time and money to make it happen. You are indeed a voice for change and if we ever want to see this country returned back to it's people, an investment must be made. Thank you Brian and keep up the great work.

As the wife of a former US Submariner, I am very familiar with Diego Garcia, as our Pacific-based boats pull into DGAR for repairs and restocking of supplies when needed. I'll be interested to hear what's happening there!

I can't download it onto my phone for listening in spots where there is no WIFI service, which is when I listen to the Wright Report. The ability to move back in 15 sec increments or forward in 30 sec increments is also not available on Substack - it truly is a format for reading, not listening. Offering the Apple option would be fine, as that is the podcast I use. As I know I won't listen to the podcast on any but a true downloadable podcast service like Apple's, that means I will be canceling my subscription, something I truly don't want to do. Again, I have zero issue listening to the ads or skipping through them.

Let me know how the experience was listening on Substack’s podcast player this morning. More tools available.

As I have no access to WIFI when I listen to the Wright Report, I, as usual, relied on my trusty download from Apple - the download is on my phone automatically ready to play immediately (no need to access the Substack app - which in turn requires additional steps and won't play without a WIFI connection in any event). It , of course, worked great.

I believe I can get you an RSS feed that you can use with Apple. I know other subscribers are doing it as I type. I’m awaiting formal link/guidance from Substack on how to guide folks. I ask for a touch of patience… Thank you! I’m working hard on it!

Substrack is not a good substitute for a podcast. I download and listen to your show first thing each morning. The ads don't bother me as I can skip through them using the Apple app. I subscribed solely to support you, not to avoid the ads. Is there a way to maintain the podcasts and block non-subscribers?

There’s no way to offer a subscriber-only option on all podcast platforms. Just Apple at present.

Let me know what you don’t like about the listening experience on Substack!

After updating the app this morning it gave me the fast forward and rewind buttons, but no speed changes. I too need a downloadable version since I fall off cell and wifi service when I leave my house. (I use a wifi booster at home). For now I’ll just arrange to listen at home, but that podcast download button is important! When I’m traveling I’ve gotten around it by listening on iheart, but I could also use Apple if that’s an option. Was dropping the free versions the only way to get the extra controls?

Starting next week, future episodes will only be on Substack. I’ll have “free” episodes on Mondays that will broadcast on platforms like Spotify, Apple, etc. I explain a bit more on the podcast tomorrow.

But, to summarize, TWR episodes from Tues - Friday will only be on Substack. Good news: when you get the email each day from me / Substack, just open the email and you can play the podcast right there. Easy!
